Bible, Pedophilia, & BULLSHIT

Ever try to do something and some moron says "the bible says don't do that, it's a sin" as if everyone is suppose to live by those caveman fairytales mistaken as a universal guide to morality? The bible says a lot of things, a lot of things I don't give a shit about. Here is a demonstration, through logical deduction, as to why I don't:

- For something to be a UNIVERSAL and RELIABLE source for moral authority, it has to be able to give a consistent moral rule in ALL given situations, regardless of time and culture.

- The bible is suppose to be the UNIVERSAL book on what is right and wrong because God alone is the only one that defines what right and wrong is cause he created everything and knows everything there is to know.

- Pedophilia, a topic that requires some sort of moral guidance is not touched upon anywhere in the bible (even bible scholars will admit this).

- In conclusion the bible is an UNRELIABLE guide for morality.

When I point this out someone will try to defend the bible by saying "pedophilia was not an issue back then, that's why it was never discussed". That is true, people did have a shorter life span before, meaning they would have to do things (like sex and marriage) sooner. Mary is even said to have been around her early teens when she married Joseph and when she was pregnant with Jesus. This defense just proves my point even more that the bible is LIMITED to BIBLICAL TIMES, therefore should not be treated as a UNIVERSAL guide to morality. Sadly, millions of people are applying biblical scripture to the world we live in to this day. There are people that will say "what does the bible say about this" whenever they're confronted with a dilmena or issue. Am I the only one that am disturbed by this? People resort to "what the bible says" rather than going by what is the most practical route.

For example, with the issue of homosexuality, someone is going to hate gays just cause "the bible says so", not because there is something objectively beneficial from it. What is there to gain from callings gays sinners? A seat in heaven (a.k.a. Absolutely nothing) that's what, yet we're still going to see these homophobic Christians ruining the lives of people just cause of their sexual orientation and nothing more. Anti-homophobic Christians will try to argue that the bible says nothing wrong about homosexuality though. But that's irrelevant still. We shouldn't care what the bible says or doesn't say about the issue, just use something called common sense for the good of everyone TODAY. The whole debate of "bible interepretation" is useless. There can be a case made for and against slavery in it. It's a mere aid for manipulation (convince everyone that you're on the side of a supreme being with bible quotes and you can get them to do so many fucked-up irrational things). Oh and it's painfully obvious the bible was written by humans so don't resort to the "it's the infallible word of an 'all-knowing' God that's why we must use it". If it was the "infalliable word of an 'all-knowing' God" then IT WOULD HAVE COVERED THE ISSUE OF PEDOPHILIA because God (being the all-knowing universal moral creator) would have anticipated pedophilia being a serious issue TODAY that he would need to give a direct answer to. Either the bible is inconsistent bullshit or God is apathetic towards babyfuckers.

So where's the bible now to condemn grown men fucking babies? Usually some bible-defender will pick some ambiguous bible quote about how God doesn't approve of anything "offensive/immoral/evil", fornication, or homosexuality (as if pedophilia were synonymous with "abominations" like homosexuality and fornication). But the truth is the bible is not a universal guide to morality and the knee-jerk reaction to see what the bible says whenever faced with an issue is something mankind needs to evolve from. I didn't write all this just to bash the bible. Sure there are good things the bible promotes like killing/raping/stealing in general is bad, but common sense already says that stuff too. The bible shouldn't be a monopoly on dictating right and wrong. Just cause it's right on one thing doesn't mean it's right on everything else. It still fails at being a universal moral authority (as seen in the pedophilia example).

Being dependant on it only leads us to being preoccupied by dumb rituals and trying to be technical over semantics instead of doing the most practical thing. We as a species shouldn't be dependant on that bible to tell us what we can or can't do. So the next time you're going to do something that puts you in a tough situtation, don't ask "how will this affect my relationship with God", instead ask "how will this affect my relationship with people that actually exist" because that's what really matters.

As for pedophilia, that's a real complicated issue (and the bible doesn't do shit to help put it in perspective). We must first define pedophilia. Is it to exclusively have sex with or be merely attracted to someone with the appearance of a child? In that case, a 20 year old that has sex with a 30 year old that never finished puberty (ex: Gary Coleman's condition) or with a dwarf (some look like kids) is a pedophile. On the other hand, an 80 year old that has sex wih a 7 year old with a rapid aging disease is not a pedophile? Okay that does not make sense.

Lets just assume pedophilia is to exclusively have sex with or be merely attracted to someone under 15 (14 is about the highest age most will agree that someone is still just a kid), regardless of physical appearance.

So if that's pedophilia, an 18 year old girl having sex with a 14 year old man is a pedophile. Judging whether this is wrong or not is subjective though to the realtionship the two have and the cognitive abilities of the 14 year old. Pedophilia is stigmatized because of its association with exploiting someone naive and not experienced (therefore incapable of making a "rational" decision on their own). What if they were not strangers to each other and knew each other for years. And also what if they've planned to get married in the future and really put a lot of thought into this? When the 14 year old turns 18, the 18 year old is only going to be 22. An 18 year old and a 22 year old together is not such a freaky thing. Is a14 year old fucking an 18 year old he knows very well more obscene than a 60 year old fucking some 18 year old prostitute? Bah, whatever, this issue is too complicated and the bible is no help. The bible is bullshit. The End.
