Despise You – West Side Horizon

62 tracks lasting a little more than 43 minutes and holy shit, this is high quality straight-to-the-point grindcore! This is a favorite of mines from the beloved genre actually. The riffs are memorable with thrashing hardcore punk grooves that have a small death metal touch, the bass is real thick and trembles with rage, and the drums are like an audible earthquake going off in massive violent bursts that don’t quit. This is like the soundtrack to total devastation where nothing is left but charred remains grinded into even small remains. What set Despise You from other grindcore bands is the occasional use of female vocals. At first they feel out of place cause they’re not harsh and have a high-pitch, but it works with the music. The trade off with extremely pissed off rough male vocals delivered in high speeds and hostile female screams makes for a good combo. In sum, a grindcore classic with catchy song writing, a must for fans of Disrupt.10/10
