WTN - Rotting in Pestilence

I don't know much bands from Singapore. If they're all as good as this, lets hope a Singapore goregrind scene takes over Sweden's Mellow Death scene that's getting big everywhere. WTN throws a lot of distinct classic goregrind qualities in their blend of death/grind. They're like an updated version of Impetigo (they do a cover of an Impetigo song too), Autopsy, and old school Carcass. They pull off that doomish Autopsy style atmosphere. But explode with thrashing death riffs and speedy drum pounding. They sound like they're mercilessly beating the shit out of their instruments. There's never a dull moment...well except for the last sixteen minute track, it's starts off as a song. But then after five minutes, goes silent and then there's a bunch of wierd noises. This doesn't matter though because all the other tracks were solid songs. I was really impressed by the first track which was instrumental. It sounded like a blend of Carcass and Slayer with a murky atmosphere. Although the band isn't trying to create a new genre, you're going to get some new goregrind tunes from this that you probably haven't heard before. I like how the solos creep out of nowhere unexpectedly, carrying derranged harmonies similiar to those found in Carcass' Necrotism. The deep indecipherable vocals sounded like a flushing toilet, mixed nicely with the blizzard the music created.Growls didn't overshadow the music or vice versa, a smooth blend of the two. There's an occasional bleeding-throat scream too. The production isn't too low or too high either. It's raw but clear at the same time, which doesn't blur the instruments together and satisfies the jagged texture of the music. No wonder it was a big seller on Razorback records.
